Frank Filbert was born in April, 1884 in Iowa to John and Mary (Paymal) Paymall Filbert.

He married Pearl Sprouse, daughter of George F. and Sarah Scovill Sprouse. Pearl was born February, 1890 in Nebraska. Frank and Pearl lived near Ellendale where he worked on a farm, then on to Monango where he worked in a blacksmith shop.

In 1910 they moved into Forbes where he worked as a blacksmith. Two of their children were born in Forbes. Frank played in a band for the many dances held in town. In the summer of 1914 they left Forbes and homesteaded near Terry, Montana.

Their children are: Lela F., married Martin Peterson in June, 1926 and they have 4 children and live in Ellendale; Zelma, married to George Carlson in April, 1940 and they have 6 children and live at Fullerton, North Dakota; Clair, married to Isabelle Brown in October, 1939 and they have 6 children and live in Ellendale.

Frank's brothers and sisters are: Mammie, Linnie, Louise, Cora, Edward, John, Mary, Celestine, all deceased.

Pearl's brothers are: Oliver, Irvin, Vern, Floyd, and Donald, all deceased.
