Captain John Woods served in the Revolutionary War as a Private and then Captain serving under Brig. General George Rogers Clark in the Northwest campaigns. Later John served as an officer in the Franklin County, TN Home Guards during the War of 1812. He married Abigail Estill, daughter of Calvary Captain Wallace Estill, on 30 - Apr - 1778 . Captain John Woods was a friend and neighbor to future President Thomas Jefferson, James Madison and several other famous Early Americans.
