Mr. Moore was born to Jettie Mae (Bernard) and Fred Moore on Oct. 19, 1924, in Clinton, Ky. On Aug. 24, 1955, he married Voncelle Jones in Desoto County, Miss. She survives.
Also surviving are a daughter, Linda (Joseph) Overhulser of Elkhart, Ind.; seven stepgrandchildren; 14 stepgreat-grandchildren; six brothers, Harold Moore of Drummonds, Tenn., Roy Moore of Memphis, Tenn., Johnny and Aubrey Moore of Chattanooga, Tenn., Jimmy Moore of Wolcott, Conn., and David Moore of Finger, Tenn.; and one sister, Sallye Abel of Memphis.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Henry and Bobby Moore; a sister, Mildred Boswell; and one stepdaughter, Donna Kenney.
Mr. Moore worked at CG Conn in Elkhart for many years then at W.T. Armstrong and U.M.I. in Elkhart, retiring in 1991. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and the Korean War. Mr. Moore also had been a volunteer firefighter for the Porter Township (Mich.) fire department. He played guitar, performing gospel music in nursing homes. He had attended Bethel Assembly of God and New Creation Fellowship in Elkhart and attended Shepherd Heights Assembly of God in Minden. He enjoyed woodworking, yard work and gardening.
Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at Rose-Neath Funeral Home, 211 Murrell St., Minden. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Shepherd Heights Assembly of God, Minden, with pastor Dee Anders officiating. Burial will be in Caddo Parish War Veterans Cemetery, Shreveport.
