Mrs. Pauline Carter Cole, 84, of 662 Thaxton Road, died Saturday, July 4, 2009 at Person Memorial Hospital.

The funeral was Tuesday, July 7, at 3 p.m. at the Brooks and White Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Ross Thompson and the Rev. Richard Long officiated. Burial was in the Red House Presbyterian Church Cemetery in Semora.

Pallbearers were Doug Carter, Donnie Carter, Walt Barker, Melvin Long, Richard Long and R.B. Wilborn.

Born in Caswell County, Mrs. Cole was the daughter of the late Jasper Thomas Carter and Annie Mae Rogers Carter.

She was married to Robert Fred Cole, who survives. She was preceded in death by her son, Robert Wayne Cole, and her brother, Charles Edward Carter.

She was a graduate of Murphy High School and was a member of Ca-Vel United Methodist Church.

In addition to her husband, Mrs. Cole is survived by her daughter, Carolyn Haun of Roxboro; three brothers, Raymond Carter and Arnold Carter, both of Roxboro and Wallace Carter of Danville, Va.; five sisters, Dorothy Rutter of Pennsylvania, Lelia Lowery Carlson of South Boston, Gwendolyn Hudson of Fayetteville, Marie Barker of Powhatan, Va. and Dean Smith of Shipman, Va.; three grandchildren, John C. Haun, Sara H. Wright and Ashley C. Haun; and four great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to Ca-Vel United Methodist Church, in care of Alice Gordon, 444 Tanglewood Circle, Roxboro, N.C. 27573.
