George W. Cosby died April 10, 1927 in Kankakee. Funeral services were held at Stensel Funeral Home and interment was in Maple Grove Cemetery.

He was born January 26, 1858 in Dearborn County, Indiana the s/o Rebecca and William Cosby. He married Nora Rippey in Washington County IN on November 14, 1880. To this union seven children were born, but only three survive with their mother to mourn his loss. Two passed away in infancy; a daughter, Blanche, died at the age of 19; and a son, Lee, chief marine engineer, lost his life by an explosion on shipboard in December 1924. Those who survive are Lorie, New York City; Velma Bower of Springfield, with whom Mrs. Cosby makes her home; and Leona Burris of Farmer City. There are also ten grandchildren.

Mr. Cosby was a member of the Modern Woodmen; member of Busy Men's Bible Cclass and had been a Methodist since boyhood. He had lived in this community for 30 years.
