Born in Greenville County, he was the son of the late Clayton Denton Cantrell and Laura Pressley Cantrell. He was of the Methodist faith and was a brick mason.
Surviving are daughters Dale Gaines of Belton and Dianne Stoddard of Ridge Springs; sons Gregory Cantrell of Pelzer, and Clay Cantrell of Williamston; sisters Faye Thomas and Marge Thomason, both of Belton; a brother, Jack Cantrell of Belton; eight grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Greenville Memorials Gardens, with the Rev. Sam Thomason officiating.
Cox Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
