GENTRY -- Esther Mary Minick Steepro, 94, of Gentry died June 9, 2008, at the Ashley Health & Rehab Center in Rogers. She was born July 24, 1913, in Buckeye, Kan., to Fred and Effie Picking Minick. She was orphaned at a young age and was then raised by her grandparents, C.A. and Olive Minick.

In 1938, Esther moved from Buckeye with her husband Glenn and children to Centerton, where they owned and operated the Centerton Telephone Co. until 1954. At that time they moved to Gentry for the remainder of her life. She was a member of Gentry United Methodist Church.

Esther was preceded in death by her husband, Glenn H Steepro in 1994; a son, Murray Alfred Steepro in 1940 and her brother, Lloyd Peter Minick of Buckeye in 1981.

Survivors include four daughters and three sons-in-law, Donna and Clarence Amos of Decatur, Wava and Danny Feemster of Gentry and Glenda and M.L. Gold of Bella Vista and Mary Byrd of Gentry; her grandchildren, Steve Amos of Tulsa, Okla., Marla England of Springdale, Jeff Amos of Rogers, Tami Hinojosa of Rogers, Marsha Scherer of Gentry, Robin Barker of Gentry, Lori Buhrfeind of Plano, Texas, and Mike Byrd of Springdale; 14 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, June 11, at Benton County Funeral Home in Rogers, downtown, online at www.bentoncountyfuneralhome.com. A graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, June 12, at Centerton Cemetery with Pastor Lonnie Nelson officiating.

Memorials may be made to Gentry United Methodist Church, Circle of Life Hospice or the Centerton Cemetery Association, c/o Benton County Funeral Home, 306 N. 4th St., Rogers.
