Ralph A. Abrams, 66, of Terre Haute, passed away Tuesday, July 7, 2009 in the Union Hospital.

Born Dec. 18, 1942 in West Terre Haute, he was the son to Anderson Taft Abrams and Edith Evelyn (Williams) Abrams.

He married Marlene J. Newell and she survives.

Ralph served in the Air Force. He worked as a Supervisor for the Cinergy Power Plant. His hobbies included spending time with his family, square dancing, Civil War reenactment, NASCAR and tinkering with wood.

Survivors include his wife; a son, Andy Abrams and significant other Carol Ross of Denver; daughter, Tami Abrams and significant other Rusty Ammerman of Terre Haute; stepdaughters, Michele Marlow and husband Doug of Granger, Ind.; Mandy Homol of West Terre Haute; grandchildren, Gage, Ally, Evan and Maddie Marlow of Granger, Marlayna and Dalton Burry of West Terre Haute, Samantha Van Buren of Kentucky, and Robert Van Buren of Brazil, Ind.; a great-grandson, Jaylyn Van Buren of Kentucky; a brother, Allen Abrams and wife Linda of Statesville, N.C.; two brothers-in-law, James Newell and wife Tammy of Springfield, Ohio, and Bill Newell and wife Debbie of Springfield, Ohio; a sister-in-law, Sandy Anderson and husband Frank of Rainier, Ore.; a mother-in-law, Betty Jane Newell of Springfield, Ohio; a niece, Terri Jo Ingram and husband Harlan of Roaring River, N.C.; three great-nieces, Jo Casta Britt and husband Wayne of North Carolina, Audrey Lane Signorelli and husband Jon of Leesburg, Va., and Amber Michelle Ingram of North Carolina; a nephew, Rick Carpenter of West Terre Haute; several other nieces and nephews.

His parents, brother Gerald Abrams, and two sisters, Donna Abrams and June Carpenter preceded him in death.

Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. today at the Roselawn Funeral Home. Services are 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home with the Revs. Monte Barker and Darren Colgan officiating. Entombment will follow in the Roselawn Memorial Park.
