Tracy Newspaper May 4, 1934

Nelson R. Crouch, former resident of Tracy, died Saturday April 7 at his farm home on the South Dennison road. Death was caused by old age and complications.

The funeral services were held at the home Monday afternoon with Rev. Samuel Johnson of the First Congregational church in charge. Miss Edna Tower and Mrs. J.G. Briggs of Minneapolis sang two numbers. The pallbearers were four nephews and two grandchildren of the deceased. The remains were then taken to Dodge county for interment in the Wildwood cemetery at Wasioja, where Rev. Charles Crouch of St. Paul, a nephew of the deceased was in charge of the service at the grave.

Mr.and Mrs. Crouch moved from this community to Northfield sixteen years ago. He was an elder of the Presbyterian church of this city, and was very active in prohibition work while living here.

Mr. Crouch was born December 7, 1851, at Big Creek, Wisconsin, a son of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Crouch. In 1881 he was married to Hattie May Leach, who with an only son died in 1886. He was married a second time in 1888 to Agnes Abby Briggs, and to this union three children were born. The wife died November 29, 1902, and two years later, in September, 1904, he married Mrs. Janet Abernathy. He is survived by his widow and by three children; Mrs. J.W. Raymond of Dos Canbezas, Arizona; J. Wilbur Crouch of Northfield; and Frank N. Crouch of Rochester; also five step-children: John Abernathy of Phoenix, Arizona; Mrs. George X. Law of Northfield; Mrs. Belle Nelson of Janesville; Miss Janette Abernathy of Northfield, and David Abernathy of Tracy. There are five grandchildren.

Mr. Crouch spent most of his life near Dodge Center and Tracy moving from the later place to Northfield in 1918. He was a member of the Congregational church of Northfield, and during his active years much interested in church work.

Persons from out of town attending the funeral were David Abernathy, Dave Jones, and Mrs. Lucy Cole of Tracy; Miss Shirley Crouch of Austin; Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Crouch, Vernon Crouch, Mortie Crouch, Mrs. Ann White, and Mrs. Eliza Crouch of Dodge Center; Mrs. Belle Nelson of Janesville; Dr. and Mrs. J.R. Briggs, Miss Edna Towler, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Stevens, Mr. and Mrs. Hila Vanderhyde, and Mr. and Mrs. Bert Daniels of Minneapolis; Rev. Charles Crouch and Dr. Allen Carlaw of St. Paul; Mrs. J.W. Raymond and children of Dos Cabezas, Arizona; and Frank Crouch of Rochester.
