Mrs. (M.I.H.) Evalyn Ericson Hauge was born December 22, 1904, in Minneapolis, Minnesota, to parents John and Christine (Nielson) Ericson. She was baptized in Minneapolis in 1905 and later confirmed into the Lutheran Faith by Pastor J.E.H. Akre. Following graduation from High School, Evalyn attended the University of Minnesota, where she met her future husband, Malvin I. Hauge. Evalyn and Malvin were married in Minneapolis in 1926. They moved to Clarkfield in 1933, when 'M.I.' started his medical practice with his father.

Evalyn was very active in the Clarkfield Community. She was very involved in her church, the Ladies Aid, and the Ladies Choir. She worked hard for the community, being involved with the Voting in Clarkfield, the Hospital Auxiliary, and she was instrumental in getting the first band uniforms for the Clarkfield High School. Evalyn loved to sing. She had a beautiful alto voice. She also, was gifted in languages and would tutor high school students in Latin.

Evalyn entered the Clarkfield Care Center in November of 1992. She passed away at the Care Center on Sunday, March 1, 1998, at the age of 93 years, 2 months, and 8 days.

She is survived by her daughter, Anne Burgwald, and sons: Malvin Hauge and Christopher Hauge, M.D. She is also survived by eight grandchildren and eight great grandchildren; brother, Adolph Ericson; sister-in-law, Bergloit Stueland; and brother-in-law, Erling 'Trig' Hauge.

She was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Evalyn, and her husband Malvin, in 1980.
