Arne O. Gaarden/Gordon was born May 16, 1876, in Gol, Hallingdal, Norway. At the age of two years he sailed with his parents, brothers and sisters to America in the year 1878. The Gaardens settled on a farm five miles south of Clarkfield, in the Spring Creek community.
Mr. Gordon grew to manhood in this community. He was baptized in the Lutheran faith, and was confirmed at St. Lucas Church by Rev. Thorstenson.
His first wife died April 4, 1892. In the year 1904 he was united in marriage to Anna Ellen Selness, to which three children were born: Arthur, Bayard and Ruth. The family made its home in Clarkfield, where Mr. Gordon worked as a carpenter and thresherman.
During his latter years, Mr. Gordon made his home on the farm with his brothers, Erick and Iver, until the farm was sold and all three moved to Hanley Falls two years ago.
Mr. Gordon passed away Wednesday evening, April 4, 1951, at the Hanley Falls home he shared with his brother, Erick.
