Johanna Christine Vielstich Becker was born June 10, 1856 in Lesum, Germany. She was a sister of Anna Vielstich (Mrs. John) Becker. She married Frederick Adolph Becker on December 29, 1880 and they had nine children of whom six survived: Adolph Frederick, Louis H., Helene, Carl, Frederick, Frieda Catherine, William Herman, Elsa and Ernst. All were born in Belen. Johanna and Fred were Lutherans. The family home from 1883 to 1915 was located on Second Street, and north of Reinken Avenue. All the children except Adolph were born in this house.
