Alice M. Denhard, 91, died peacefully, of natural causes, in her Bandon, OR home.
She was a native of San Francisco, predeceased by parents Otto E. and Ida K. Denhard, and sister Edna M. Denhard.
Ms. Denhard graduated 1934 Lowell High School, S.F. and 1941 Leland Stanford Hospital Nursing School. She earned a B.A. Degree from Stanford University School of Nursing and M.A. from Columbia University, N.Y. Ms. She retired in 1970 as Assistant Clinical Professor from Stanford University School of Nursing, then served as Director of Nursing, Wheeler Hospital, in Gilroy, CA, and Director of Education at Salinas Valley Memorial Hospital, in Salinas, CA, finally retiring in 1979.
Ms. Denhard was a distinguished member and volunteer of many professional and charitable organizations, including, Honorary Life Member of The Phi Beta Kappa Society and Historian Emerita of Stanford Nurses Alumnae.
Ms. Denhard will be remembered by many for her mentoring, kindness, strength, courage, wisdom, and understanding. Favorite quote "I shall pass through this world but once. Any good therefore that I can do or any kindness that I can show to any human being, let me do it now. Let me not defer or neglect it, for I shall not pass this way again."
