DOROTHY E WINNER MOUNT SAVAGE Dorothy E. Winner, 88, of The Chateau Cumberland, and formerly of Mount Savage, died Monday, March 1, 2004, at Sacred Heart Hospital. Born Jan. 6, 1916, in Mount Savage, she was the daughter of the late James and Mary (Blank) Wharton. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two husbands, Charles L. Stevens, and Edward A. Wish Winner; two brothers, William Wharton and Francis Wharton; and one son, Edward Stevens. Ms. Winner was a retired supervisor for the Mount Savage Senior Center, and she was a member of St. Patricks Catholic Church. Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Darlene Geary and husband Neil, Hancock; one sister, Donna Wharton, Pahrump Valley, Nev.; one stepdaughter, Mary Ford, Johnston, R.I.; two stepsons, Joseph A. Winner, Baltimore, and John F. Winner, Cumberland; two grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; one great- great-grandchild; and several step grand and great-grandchildren. In accordance with her wishes, her body was cremated. There will be no visitations. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Mount Savage, on Saturday, March 13, 2004, at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Father Doug Kenney as celebrant. Inurnment will be in the Mt. Savage United Methodist Cemetery. A post-funeral luncheon will be held in St. Patrick's parish hall following the graveside service. Condolences may be sent to the family at durstfuneralhome.com.
