He married Mary Jane Christopher Friday 12 Nov 1943 in San Francisco, California. He worked for Parsons Corporation in Traverse City until his retirement in Jan 1946 as a result of a disability. He served in the 11th Armored Division of the US Army in World War II.

Earl William Byers of Buckley died Friday morning 18 Feb 1972 at the age of 51 y 4 m 26 d at Traverse City Osteopathic Hospital in Traverse City after a two month illness. Cause of death was Ventricular Fibrillation, Myocardial Infarction. Survivors included his wife, Mary; 2 sons, James Byers of Waukegon, Illinois, and Donald W Byers of Buckley; 3 daughters, Sharon & Harold Smith of Grawn, Patricia and Bonnie Byers at home in Buckley; his parents, Ralph Clyde & Nina Ann Byers of Buckley; 1 brother, Roy Raymond & Mary Jane Byers of Buckley; and 3 grandchildren.

Visitation was anytime Friday 18 Feb 1972 at the Smith Funeral Chapel in Kingsley. Funeral services were 2 pm Tuesday 21 Feb 1972 at the Smith Funeral Chapel with the Rev Fred Marsh officiating.

Burial was in Plot A-42 in Sherman-Mesick Memorial Cemetery in Mesick. The plot was owned by Ralph Byers. His stone says Dad; PFC, Co E, 357 Infantry, World War II.
