Letitia Bammer was born in Belfast, Ireland on 30 June 1829 the daughter of Isabella and William Bammer. She was one of seven sisters. She met her future husband, John Curtis, when she sailed to New Orleans on a ship which John captained. They were married in New Orleans in 1850. She died in Camden, Maine in 1909.
