Stephen Hooks, 74, of 1924 Frail Road. died at 2:10 a.m. today in St. Rita's Hospital where he had been a patient for eight days.
Born Dec. 8, 1896, in Van Wert County, Mr. Hooks was the son of Frank and Dora Butler Hooks. He married his first wife Edna, Dec. 20, 1915, and she died Sept 9, 1957. He married Ruth Doty Young April 18, 1959, and she survives.
Mr. Hooks was a former employe of the old Odin Cigar Factory and a retired employee of Westinghouse Electric Corp. He was a member of High Street United Methodist Church, its Men's Bible Class and Old Time Cigar Makers.
Surviving in addition to his wife are a daughter, Mrs. Everett (Thelma) Sodders of 4340 Joyce Lane; a stepdaughter, Mrs. R. J. (Phyllis) Schumaker of Amarillo, Tex.; a brother, John W. of Taylor, Mich; two sisters, Mrs. Mary Covey of Madison Heights, Mich., and Mrs. Lucy English of 416-1/2 S. Elizabeth; four grand children; and two great-grandchildren.
Services will be 2:30 p.m. Wednesday in Chiles and Sons Laman Chapel of Memories, Rev. Glenn Crabtree officiating. Friends may call after 7 tonight. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.
