Prominent fruit grower Weldon Morris Ercanbrack, 79, died on July 3, 2009 of skin cancer.


He was born August 5, 1929 in Goshen, Utah to Weldon Monroe Ercanbrack and Lillian Jasper.


He graduated from Lincoln High School in Orem, Utah. He married Doreen Davis on June 10, 1953 in the Manti Temple. She passed away on November 1, 1985. He married Phyllis Teeples on December 20, 1986.


Morris was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and served in various callings. Throughout his life he served in other leadership positions: President of the "Cherry Marketing Board," President of the "West Union Canal Co.," President of the "Utah Horticulture Society," "Soil Conservation Board," "Farm Bureau," and many other organizations.


Morris was a lifelong farmer, rancher, and family man. He bought his first fruit farm from his father at the age of 18. With his family by his side, he taught them hard work, integrity, and perseverance. He owned and operated farms in Orem, Santaquin, and Genola, Utah, with his sons Randall and Sheldon. Morris was very generous in supporting B.Y.U. athletics; and was a longtime member of the Cougar Club.


He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed many outdoor activities. He loved to travel and traveled all over the world. Morris never retired. He always kept busy helping wherever he could. He was a great example to all who knew him and has left a legacy we will always remember.


He is survived by his wife, Phyllis; his five children: DeeAnn (Scott) Thaxton, Randall (Tonya) Ercanbrack, Gaylen (Kathy) Ercanbrack, Neal (Cliss) Ercanbrack and Sheldon (Monica) Ercanbrack; his brother Gene (Aloma) Ercanbrack; 18 grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Doreen; his parents; his sister, Darlene Adamson; and his great-grandson, Ryder Porter.


Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, July 7, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at the LDS Chapel, 2168 South 140 West, Orem. A viewing will be held on Monday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Sundberg-Olpin Mortuary, 495 South State Street, Orem, and also from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. prior to the services at the Church Building.
Interment will be in the Orem City Cemetery.
