Funeral services for J. Harvey Adams, retired merchant, former alderman and former mayor of Ackerman, were held July 10 at Ackerman United Methodist Church with the Rev. Don McCain officiating. Burial was in Enon Cemetery with Nowell Funeral Services of Ackerman in charge of arrangements.
Adams, 84, died July 7 at his home in Ackerman. He was s member of Ackerman United Methodist Church. He had served as alderman from 1961 until 1970 and then as Mayor of Ackerman from 1970 until 1973.
Survivors include a daughter, Barbara A. Myers of Kennesaw, Ca.
Pallbearers were Sonny Draper, Prentiss Irvin, Ken Hodges, Jimmy R. McClure, Marion Smith and Bruce Bumey.
Honorary pallbearers were the advisory board members of Sunburst Bank in Ackerman.
