Amanda E. Buhler was born February 15, 1857, and departed this life August 7, 1905, aged 48 years, 5 months and 22 days. She was married to Alek Harper the first time, and to this union were born two children; a son, Ernest Earl, and a daughter, Grace. The daughter died in infancy. The father and husband passed beyond about five years ago. On the 19 of March, 1903, she was united in marriage to Albert Buhler, who with his two daughters, Grace D. and M. Mable and her son, Ernest Earl, remain to mourn her departure. She also leaves three brothers and five sisters. She was converted to God in early life and united with the M. E. Church, of which she was a member when she died. Her Christian life was of the Bible kind. With her church and her Lord held first place in her affections. Those who knew her best speak of her religious life in only the best of praise. She was decidedly a "doer of the word". Her religion was of the practical, every day, helpful kind. She was very ready to help in sickness and never tired in assisting in any place where she could do good. She was a faithful member of the order of Pocahontas. Among her favorite hymns were "We'll Never Say Good-by" and "The Haven of Rest" To her all the scriptures were precious and it would be difficult to name any favorite passage. As the time for her departure approachd she seemed more than usually hopeful and resigned. "The Lord's will be done" was her constant wish. She cast her anchors, they stood the test and her soul has entered the haven of eternal rest.
