OBITUARY:
Wilbert Franz Emil Oestmann, son of Otto and Emma Stutheit Oestmann, was born near Johnson, Ne. on Aug. 5, 1920, one of 10 children.
Wilbert was baptized on Aug. 15, 1920 at Hickory Grove Church by Rev. Theodore Streng and received his confirmation by Rev. Weibke. He remained an active ,faithful member of this church his entire life, where for many years he taught Sunday School.
He received his education at Roosevelt school near his home.
During World War II, Wilbert served with the Air Force in the South Pacific.
After receiving his discharge, Wilbert returned home, where on Jan. 21, 1948, he was united in marriage with Marie Anna Gebers at Hickory Grove church; four children were born.
After their marriage, the Oestmanns settled in this community except for two years at Webster City, IA. He farmed most of his life until six years ago when he became employed at Triangle Pacific plant in Auburn. He retired in 1980.
Wilbert had been in failing health for some time. He entered Clarkson Hospital On Oct. 31, 1982,where he passed away Nov. 12, 1982, having reached the age of 62 years, three months and six days.
He was preceded in death by his parents. five brothers and two sisters.
Those left to mourn his passing include his wife, Marie, at home; four children; Mark Oestmann of Hooks, TX., Mrs. David Blair of Omaha, NE. Mrs. Steven Schneider of Kansas City, MO. and Andrew Oestmann of Auburn, Ne.
Also surviving are three grandchildren; one brother, Norvel Oestmann of Johnson; one sister, Mrs. Herman Bohling of Ruskin, Ne. other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held Nov. 15 at St. Paul Lutheran Church, conducted by Rev. R. Beckmann.
Music was a quartet composed of Allyn Remmers, Alvin Remmers, Harvey Lunzmann and Willard Kuhlmann, accompanied by Mrs. James D. Gerking. Assisting with flowers were Mrs. Loren Gebers and Mrs. Lois Bohling.
Pallbearers were courtesy of Bender-Reese American Legion Post in Johnson.
Military graveside services were conducted by the Bender-Reese post, with burial in the church cemetery.
