Carl M. "Buddy" Loffler, Jr., 66 of Hollywood died October 20, 2008 at his residence after a courageous battle fighting cancer.

Born July 14, 1942 at Sibley Hospital in Washington, DC, he was the son of the late Carl M. Loffler, Sr. and Grace (Wood) Loffler.

Buddy is survived by his wife of 45 years B. Jean Loffler, his daughters Diana Lynn Baumann of Hollywood, MD and Laura Loffler Fitchett of Denver, NC, his son-in-laws John Mitchell Baumann and Jeffrey Thomas Fitchett, and his grandchildren Douglas Mitchell Baumann, Olivia Grace Baumann, and Claire Alexandra Baumann, his sister, Louise Dean and his brother, Charles Loffler II.

He received his B.C.S. degree in Accounting from Ben Franklin University (now George Washington University).

He was an accountant and auditor for IBM, Federal Systems Division; Supervisory Programmer and Analyst for the US Navy; CEO of Loffler Construction and Loffler Marine; past president of the St. Mary's County Commissioners; retired from Department of Agriculture, Soil Conservation Division; and salesman for Leonardtown Ford, Park Dodge, and Ralph's Dodge.

He was recognized as Businessman of the Year for the St. Mary's County Chamber of Commerce; past President of the St. Mary's County Chamber of Commerce; Chairperson of the St. Mary's Vocational Technical Council; past chairman for the Commission for Veteran's Programs, Women's Programs and Handicap Programs; and member of the Board of Governors for the Calvert Marine Museum.

He was a past member of the Lexington Park Lion's Club; instrumental in organizing the 1st Trade Fair for St. Mary's County Chamber of Commerce and Women in Business Appreciation Day; past member of Board of Directors for 1st National Bank of Southern Maryland; and a delegate to the Republican National Convention in 1992.

He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. In his retirement he loved to go fishing and boating with his family, and he was the #1 fan of his grandchildren at all of their sporting events.

Family will receive friends for Buddy's Life Celebration on Friday, October 24, 2008 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. in the Brinsfield Funeral Home, 22955 Hollywood Road, Leonardtown, MD 20650. Prayers will be recited at 7:00 p.m. A Funeral Service will be conducted on Saturday, October 25, 2008 at 10:00 a.m. in the Hollywood United Methodist Church, 24422 Mervell Dean Road, Hollywood, MD 20636. Interment will follow in Joy Chapel Cemetery, Hollywood, MD.

Serving as pallbearers will be Douglas Mitchell Baumann, John Mitchell Baumann, Alan
Graves Dean, Richard Alan Dean, Jeffrey Thomas Fitchett, and Charles Loffler II. Honorary pallbearers will be Olivia Grace Baumann and Debra Grace Raley.
