Daniel Ayers was born in Fairfield County, South Carolina to Moses Ayers Sr,( 1750-1829)& Elizabeth Vittito (1750-1814) He was husband to Mary Polly Seale. Daniel was father to Merene Ayers Wade, Elizabeth Caroline Holyfield, Martha Emmaline Reed, Mary Jane Thompson, Warren Franklin Ayers, Amanda Fulps, James Wesley Ayers, and Thomas Jefferson Ayers.Daniel Ayers was likely born in SC, and buried in Hardeman Co TN. He married Mary Seale and she had died just prior to his writing a letter in Jun 1866. He also mentions all of his children in this letter and that he was to move in with his oldest daughter, Merene Ellender (Mrs Edmond Wade), widow, who lived in Montezuma, McNairy Co TN. All of his other daughters, Ferriba Andaline (Mrs James Gragg) Mary Jane (Mrs Isaac Thompson), Caroline Elizabeth (Mrs Wm R Holyfield), Amanda Malvina (Mrs Wm G Fulps), and Martha Emeline (Mrs John Y Reed), were also widows. They all ended up in AR. His son, Warren Franklin Ayers, died at Alton IL, while a prisoner during the Civil War. Daniel's son, Thomas Jefferson Ayers had served in the war from TN, was given the plantation, then went to AR before 1880. Daniel's youngest son, James Wesley, died at age 20, and his first son, unnamed in the letter, died at age 4. (His name was Benjamin Bedford). Warren Franklin Ayers had two sons, and many of the Hardeman Co TN area Ayers are descendants of Warren. The family bible is in the possession of Mary Jane Ayers' family.
