Memorial services will be held at 2 p.rn., 'Monday, Nov. 25, 1996,
at the Nazarene Church of Mountain Home. Arrangements are under
the direction of Summers Funeral Homes, McMurtrey Chapel in Mountain Home.
Ray was born May 11,1927, in Pueblo, Colo., the son of Fred and Geneva (Johnson) Smith. They moved to Mountain Home in 1943, and Ray graduated from the Mtn. Home High School in 1945. He entered the service joining the Navy in 1945. Ray married Millie Scott on July 4, 1949, in Mtn.Home.
He worked at the Chevrolet Garage from 1947 to 1983, and went to work for Peterson Motors in Mtn. Home from 1983-1989. Ray was a volunteer fireman
from 1956 until 1988, he held every position except Fire Chief. He was chairman of the Planning and Zoning Commission of Mtn. Home for several years.
Ray retired in March 1989, to the cabin in Featherville and worked with Life Flight and was an EMT from 1990 until 1994. He enjoyed the outdoors, wood cutting, counting all the different animals in the woods, riding snowmobiles, motorcycles and restoring cars. After a long battle with
cancer, he died at home with his family around him. Ray loved his children and all animals.
Ray is survived by his wife Millie Smith of Mtn. Home; his son Gordon Smith and his wife Beth of Coon Rapids, Minn.; his two daughters, Sue Fish .and her husband Bob of Mtn. Home; and Dee Aulbach and her husband Dan of Meridian; and six grandchildren.
The family suggests memorials be made to Volunteer Hospice of Mtn. Home, 994 N. 13th E., Mtn. Home, Idaho, 83647; Life Flight, 1055 N., Curtis Rd., Boise, 83706; or M.S.T.I. Cancer Center, 151 E. Bannock, Boise, 83712.
His ashes were scattered in the Boise National Forest
