Jane Harriett Vance was a daughter of Joshua Vance (1794-1849) and Nancy Hendrix Vance. She married on December 27,1850 in Winston County, Mississippi to Lt Eli James P. Ayres, who died near Camp-Look-Out , in Chattanooga, Tennessee. Jane's siblings were Margaret , James Riles, Irena Elizabeth, Henry Davis, and Joshua A. Vance. She later married Private Green Berry White and had two sons.
