OBITUARY:
Junita Evelen Michel, daughter of August and Thelka Wilamina (Minnie) Behrends Michel, was born west of Auburn, NE. on August 30, 1912.
Junita received her education at Hickory Grove rural school,
She had been a lifetime member of St. Paul (Hickory Grove)Lutheran Church. They farmed in the Hickory Grove area until they moved to Johnson, Ne. in 1974. Mrs. Oestmann was dietitian at the Nemaha County Hospital for many years until her retirement.
Mrs. Oestmann was active in the church circle and a member of the Johnson Senir Citizens.
She went to visit her daughter, Lois in Beatrice and became ill on Dec. 31, 1993 and was taken to the Beatrice Community Hospital. She died later that day. having reached the age of 81 years, four months and one day.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Arnold on May 13, 1982; an infant son, and one brother.
Surviving are four children; Lois Podendorf of Beatrice, NE. Larry Oestmann of Eagle, NE. Aralon Oestmann of Johnson and Connie Simpson of Lincoln; 12 grandchildrenl four great-grandchildren, other relatives, and many friends.
Funeral services were held at St. Paul Hickory Grove Lutheran Church Jan 4, conducted by Rev. Norman Sulaica, JR.
Casket bearers were grandsons, Jimmy Podendorf, Larry Podendorf, Michael Simpson, Curt Simpson, Jeff Oestmann, Trevor Oestmann and Jamie Oestmann.
Mrs. James Kerking was organist.
Burial was in the church cemetery.
