Shastin was a 2004 graduate Palmetto High School and a student at Reinhardt College in Waleska, Georgia. She enjoyed playing softball, volleyball and numerous intraumural sports at Reinhardt and was serving as the assistant softball coach at Reinhardt. She was an part time emplyee of Hemingway's and a member of Athletes for Christ.
