Leonard Catterson, 89, Rapid City, died Friday, August 20, 2004, at a Rapid City nursing home. He was born June 30, 1915, in Kilmer Valley near Arnold, NE. He was the 8th of 9 children born to James W. and Lilly May Catterson. On August 30, 1938 he married Doris Halouska. Two daughters were born to this union. In his younger years Leonard had a love for horses. He trained them and won many awards. He was a proud member of the Grays Harbor Mounted Sheriff's Posse in Washington. For 40 years he ran his own upholstery shop in La Grande, OR., Boise, ID and Rapid City, SD. He took great pleasure in traveling in the winters to warmer climates and spending summers in his home in the Black Hills. He loved to spend time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Leonard will always be remembered for his sense of humor and practical jokes. Survived by wife Doris, Rapid City; daughters Marlene and husband Donald James, La Grande, OR, Linda and husband Mike Gooch, Rapid City; grandchildren Tim James, Portland, OR; Scott Gooch and wife Kandee, Rapid City; Cindy and husband Andrew Crocker, Rapid City; and 5 great-grandchildren. Visitation will be from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. today at the Osheim-Catron Funeral Home in Rapid City. Visitation will be Monday afternoon and early evening at the Arnold Funeral Home, Arnold, Nebraska. Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Arnold Methodist Church with Rev. Doug Smith officiating. Interment will be at the Arnold Cemetery. The family suggests memorial gifts be given to the Make A Wish Foundation.
