Roman A. Gross, a resident of Harding, died Jan. 10, 2005, at St. Gabriel's Hospital.
Mass of Christian Burial was held Jan. 12, at the Holy Cross Catholic Church in Harding with Father Roger Thoennes officiating. Burial was at the Holy Cross Parish Cemetery in Harding.
Roman was born on April 8, 1914, in Lastrup, to the late Steve and Anna (Virnig) Gross. He married Amelia "Mae" Gallek on June 21, 1937, at Holy Cross Church in Harding. Roman had various jobs such as building the Alcon Highway in Alaska, a machinist on the WWII ships in Portland, OR, drove milk truck for Lastrup Creamery and farmed until his retirement. In his spare time, Roman was an avid hunter.
He is survived by his son Ronald Gross and wife Joanne of Harding; daughters, Romelle Kurtz of Harding and Jan Brixius and husband Rod of Lastrup; brothers Lloyd Gross and Donald Gross; sisters, Rosemary Wielinski and Viola Meyer; 10 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Amelia; his parents; two infant daughters; one infant son; brother, Clifford; sister Irene Sapletal and a son-in-law, John J. Kurtz.
