Augusta W. "Gussie" Harman, a life resident of Waterville, died Friday evening, Dec. 26, 1997, at Central Washington Hospital.
She was born Augusta W. Overstadt on Aug. 31, 1904, to Julius and Pauline (Reiger) Overstadt on the family homestead, 15 miles east of Waterville, which her parents had established in 1884. She grew up there and received her early education at the Sunset View Country School. Gussie graduated from Waterville High School in 1922.
On Aug. 28, 1927, she married Forrest Harman at Waterville and together with her husband and other family members, they worked on the family wheat ranch.
She was a member of the Douglas Lutheran Church and following consolidation with Waterville, she was a member of the United Lutheran Church. She was active in the Senior Citizens Center and Rebekah Lodge in Waterville.
Mrs. Harman is survived by numerous nieces and nephews and many friends. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband in 1973, one brother and three sisters.
