Funeral services for Mrs. Eunice Brown Sims Caughron, 97, of Calhoun will be held at 3:00 PM, Monday, July 6th, 2009, at Soul's Harbor United Pentecostal Church with Rev. Jimmy Masters officiating. Burial will be in the Mt. Zion cemetery following the service.

Mrs. Caughron was born on December 1, 1911 in West Monroe. She passed from this life on July 3, 2009 in West Monroe.

She was preceded in death by her parents, I. C. Brown and Nancy Thompson Brown, first husband of forty-five years Walter Zoda Sims, two daughters, Charlotte Rose and Rhonda, one son, Charles "Red" Sims, one daughter in-law Shirley Doyle Sims, one brother, I. C. "Son" Brown, Jr., and two sisters, Beulah Neal and Grace Jowers, grandchildren, Robert L, and Michael W. Sims, a grandson-in-law Dennis J. Ezell, and great grandchildren Natalie Bentz Lenard, and Easy Tee Tedeton. She was also preceded in death by her second husband of seventeen years, Rev. E. W. Caughron and one stepdaughter, Agnes Rich.

She is survived by three sons: W. Z. "Dub" Sims, Jr. and wife Marie, James D. Sims, Richard Scottie Sims and wife Bobbie, all of Calhoun, LA. She was the beloved Mamaw of seventeen grandchildren, four step grandchildren, and numerous great and great-great grandchildren. She is also survived by three stepdaughters: Billie Lambert of Jackson, MS., Thetus Tenney and husband Tom Fred of Alexandria, LA, Rebecca Fall and husband Mike of Lake Charles, LA and Jeanette Walker, Inita and Bill Mitchell of Jackson, MS.

Mrs. Caughron was a founding member of Souls Harbor United Pentecostal Church in Calhoun and was a shining example of Proverbs 31:27, "She looketh well to the ways of her household and eateth not the bread of idleness." As she lovingly cared for her bedridden daughter, she also made the time to nurture and care for a multitude of family and friends. Her table was never empty and her home always full. She tirelessly worked in her community and her church until she became too frail. Her life was a testimony of strong faith, courage and devotion. Her positive nature and gentle spirit was a blessing and example to the family and friends she loved and she will be sadly missed by all.

Pallbearers will be grandsons.

Visitation will be held Sunday from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Souls Harbor United Pentecostal Church.
