John H. Armistead, Sr.
MATHEWS- John Harrison Armistead, Sr., 59, of Mathews, died Friday, April 29, 1966 in a Norfolk hospital after a long illness.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Alice F. Armistead; and a daughter, Miss Mary Alice Armistead of Mathews; a son, 2nd Lt. John H. Armistead, Jr., of Hamilton Air Force Base, Calif.; four sisters, Mrs. C. E. Diggs, of Susan, Mrs. I. W. Diggs, of Gwynn, Mrs. Joseph Harris of Norfolk and Mrs. Ellis Respress of Foster; and a brother, Willard Armistead of Dutton.
A funeral service was held at 4 p.m. Sunday in the Foster-Faulkner Funeral Home, Mathews, conducted by the Rev. Chester L. Phelps, pastor of Mathews Baptist Church. Burial was in the H. C. Smither Memorial Cemetery at Hudgins.
Pallbearers were Homer Armistead, Glenn Armistead, Charles Roland Armistead, Raye Respress, Coles Diggs and Wilbur L. Armistead.
