Abraham Witherup, 85 years, formerly resident of Venango county, died today at home of his daughter, Mrs. William Sweitzer in Akron, O. Son, Robert, of Akron, and daughter, Mrs. Sweitzer, survive with brothers and sisters: William and James Witherup of Kennerdell; Mrs. Anna Kirkpatrick of Evans City; Mrs. Sarah McMillan of near Pittsburgh; Mrs. Martha Davis of Eau Claire. D. M. and George B. Witherup of this city (Franklin) are nephews. Veteran of civil war. Services and burial in Akron.

Another article: Had stroke Christmas, again in January. Eighty five years on March 30. Fifth son of Capt. Abram and Elizabeth Phipps Witherup. Married Sara Porter who died forty years ago, since which time he has made his home with his children. Latter part was spent with daughter, Mrs. Ida Sweitzer. Daughters [read sisters] Sarah McMillan of near Kittanning and Mrs. Anne Hardwick of Evans City. Services at Evangelical church of Kenmore by pastor Easter Sunday. Interment in Pleasant Valley, laid to reside beside grave of his wife and near farm where he has lived for many years. Mrs. Allen Jacobs, Miss Melda Witherup and J. L. Witherup, all of this place, and D. M. Witherup of Franklin returned Monday from Akron where they attended funeral of their uncle.
