Eulah (Simpson) Bruce Krinke, 92, of Jacksonville, Fla., formerly of Ripley, Okla., died on Thursday, May 28, 2009, in Jacksonville. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, June 13, 2009, at Strode Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Steve Roach officiating. Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens. Strode Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
She was born on July 13, 1916, in Ripley, Okla., to Christian Simpson and Minnie Nugent Simpson July 13, 1916, and she enjoyed living the majority of her long life in the Ripley-Stillwater area. She met her husband of more than 52 years, Robert W. Bruce, while attending Oklahoma A & M. They were married on July 13, 1937. Together they raised two children, Carol and Robert, Jr. Robert preceded her in death on November 28, 1989.
She worked as the bookkeeper for her brother, Virgil, at his dealership, Simpson Pontiac, for a total of more than 21 years. She also taught school, and served as the financial secretary for Stillwater High School for six years.
Despite these many years of work outside the home she excelled in her most sacred job – mother. Many of her children's classmates still think of her as their "mother" and they remained her "girls and boys" to her last days.
She married Joseph Werner Krinke on June 24, 1991, in Minden, Douglas County, Nevada on 24 June 1991. He preceded her in death on April 24, 2002.
She moved to Florida to be with her grandson following the loss of her second husband, but managed to make the journey back every year to celebrate her birthday with friends and loved ones.
She is survived by her grandchildren, great grandchildren, step-children, and numerous nieces and nephews.
