My great grandmother Myrtle Irene McCoy Housley was born in Indian Territoy, Oklahoma on 26 September 1886 to Mary Lou Hembree and Waddy Thompson McCoy. She joined older brother Albert Thompson McCoy born 26 February 1881. Her younger brother Watt Joseph "Waddy" McCoy was born later on 4 July 1890.

Myrtle and husband Robert Bruce Housley were married in Siloam Springs, Arkansas on 27 November 1906.

They were blessed with four children:

Alta Mae Housley 1907-1994
Alma Evelyn Housley born 1910-1989
Robert Bruce Housley born 1914-1997
Theodore Ronald Housley born 1918-2007

Myrtle and Robert moved to Southern California in the 1940's after some of their children had moved out west. They settled in Colton, California where the remainder of their children joined them- all living with in a few blocks of each other.

Sadly, Robert passed away on 15 October 1954 while walking home from their son-in-law Roy and daughter Alma's home just up the street. Myrtle had lost her better half and she was never the same. My mom always said that her grandma passed away from a broken heart when she died just under six months later on 4 April 1955.
