Cumberland Times, Cumberland, Maryland, 26 Dec 1930: "PATRICK BARRY DIES IN WASHINGTON Patrick Barry, aged 85 years, died died at 7:30 o'clock Thursday morning in a Washington hospital. His death was attributed to infirmities of age. He was ill one week. Mr. Barry, known to many in the section, was one of the town's best liked citizens. He was born in County Durham, England, (sic) in 1845 and went to Canada when nine years of age, arriving in Nova Scotia. He lived in the provinces of Canada for two years. When twenty years of age he met and married Miss Mary Conley (sic) shortly after her arrival from Ireland. To this marriage six children were born of whom four survive. CAME TO LONACONING Following his arrival from Canada he secured work in the mines near Lonaconing and worked in them until a number of years ago. He was a devoted Catholic, being a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, which he helped to build here in Lonaconing. He was a member of the Holy Name Society. He took active interest in Democratic politics. He is survived by the following children: Mrs. William H. Mills, Cumberland; Mrs. John Spitzer, Washington, D.C. and John M. Barry, of this place. He is also survived by twenty grandchildren and twenty-four great grandchildren. His body will be brought here from Washington and taken to the home of his granddaughter, Mrs. Lloyd Logsdon, Front Street, Lonaconing."

Cumberland Times, Cumberland, Maryland 29 Dec 1930: "Funeral services for Patrick Barry were held Sunday morning from St. Mary's Catholic church, of which Mr. Barry was a life long member. The Rev. J.P. Nolan was celebrant of the mass, assisted by Rev. P.J. Bradley. Burial was in St. Mary's Cemetery. Among those attending the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. William Mills and family, Cumberland; Mr. and Mrs. Dan Scott, Turtle Creek, Pa.: Mrs. William Gundlock and daughter, Betty, Weston, W. Va.; Mr. and Mrs. Earl Barry, and Mrs. Ellen Rooney and daughter, Frostburg."
