Clara B. Nelson, 93, of Fort Morgan, died Saturday, June 23, 2001 at Valley View Villa in Fort Morgan.
Visitation is from noon until 8 p.m. today, Monday, June 25, at Chaney-Reager Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, June 26, at Chaney-Reager with Martin Hnizdil and Marge Major officiating. Burial will be at the Peetz Cemetery.
Mrs. Nelson was born on May 18, 1908 to Cilbert and Susan (Sickler) Copley in Oconto, Neb. The family moved to a homestead west of Peetz when she was 1-1/2 years old. She grew up and attended school in Peetz.
On May 18, 1925 she married John Nelson in Sterling. They lived west of Peetz for many years. Mr. Nelson died on July 31, 1959. She moved to Sterling in 1964.
She was a member of the Peetz Garden Club. She enjoyed her children and grandchildren, flower and vegetable gardening, and traveling.
She had been a resident of Valley View Villa for more than five years.
Mrs. Nelson is survived by six sons, John Nelson and wife Pauline of Sterling, Paul Nelson and wife Dallas of Colorado Springs, Lloyd Nelson and wife Arlee in Levelland, Texas, James Nelson and wife Leona of Greeley, Arlo Nelson and wife Jody of Albuquerque, N.M., and Larry Nelson and wife Esther of Peetz; two daughters, Betty Lockhart and husband Mel of Sterling and Connie Hawes and husband Dennis of Fort Morgan; a daughter-in-law, Loma Nelson of Sterling; a sister, Mary Crouch of Loveland; 31 grand children; 60 great-grandchildren and four great-great- grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son, Stanley Nelson; and an infant son, Lyman.
