Janet McDowell Emlet, 83, who long was active in Philadelphia and Main Line civic affairs, died Thursday at Evangelical Manor Nursing Home on Roosevelt Boulevard. Formerly of Ardmore and Paoli, she lived in Wynnewood. Mrs. Emlet, a graduate of Ohio Wesleyan University, was past president of the Women's Club of Ardmore and was active in the Monday Afternoon Club of Malvern. She was a charter member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Paoli American Legion Post and was a 3,000-hour volunteer at Paoli Memorial Hospital.
She traveled the world with her husband, former vice president of the Baltimore & Ohio Railroad.
Survivors: her husband, Winfield H.; a daughter, Mary Lee Hopkins; son, Winfield H. Jr.; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Services: 11 a.m. Monday, United Methodist Church of Paoli.
A. Murray Metz, 72, a retired FMC Corp. aide, died Thursday at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital. He lived in Gwynedd Valley.
Mr. Metz, a Princeton University graduate, was a sales engineer for FMC's Syntron Division. He spent 30 years with the firm.
He was a member of the Engineers Club, the Philadelphia Alliance, the Huntingdon Valley Country Club and Carmel Presbyterian Church.
Survivors: his wife, Beatrice; son, John Cameron; two brothers and a sister.
Services: 2:30 p.m. Monday at Carmel Presbyterian Church, Glenside.
Richard D. Crawford, 61, engineering manager for Burroughs Corp., died Thursday at Bryn Mawr Hospital. Formerly of Bedford, Mass., and Plymouth, Mich., he lived in Wayne.
Mr. Crawford, an electrical engineer, was a graduate of the University of Illinois.
Survivors: wife, Dorothy; sons, Richard D. 2d and David W.; two grandchildren, three sisters and a brother.
Services: 2:30 p.m. today, Mauger Funeral Home, Malvern.
