Former Sequim resident Louis Eugene "Lew" Robbins died peacefully in his Lynnwood home at age 78. He had lung cancer.

Born in Leeton, Mo., to Brice and Bessie (Brown) Robbins, he moved to Sequim in the 1930s and, during World War II, served with the Army Air Corps in North Africa, Egypt and Iran.

On Jan. 11, 1948, he married Donna Bell in Sequim.

Mr. Robbins was a Sequim carpenter and dairyman before moving his family to Lynnwood about 1967. He worked in maintenance and operations for Northshore School District until retirement, about 1988.

Mr. Robbins was a gifted photographer and artist who worked in drawing, painting and woodcarving.

In addition to his wife, Mr. Robbins' survivors include son and daughter-in-law Larry and Cheryl Robbins of Molalla, Ore.; daughters and sons-in-law Karen and Mike Norris of Bothell and Judy and Tucker Cole of Woodinville; sister and brother-in-law Mary and Harold Watson of Port Angeles; and five grandchildren.

Services: At his request, none. Private interment at Tahoma National Cemetery, Kent, was under direction of the Neptune Society in Lynnwood.
