John S. Oatts, aged 53, died at
his home on High street last
Saturday morning at 2 o'clock,
of Brights disease, after an
illness of several months.

Mr. Oatts was the eldest son
of Cosby and Irene Frisbie Oatts,
he was born and had lived nearly
all his life at Cooper, up to a
few years ago he had been a
farmer, although for a few years
he was in the mercantile business.
Last Fall he moved to Brandon,
Colorado and there he purchased
an interest in a store, but his
health soon failed him and he was
compelled to sell out and return
home.

Mr. Oatts was first married to
Miss Eula M. Kendrick, daughter
of Mrs. Mary E. Kendrick, on
December 11, 1889, from this
union two children were born both
of whom survive him being, Mrs.
Robert Gieger of Cooper and Cosby
Oatts. Mrs. Oatts died in 1894.
On December 17th 1901, he was
married to Minnie Fleming, who
survives him, from this union
three children were born, two of
whom survive being, George Fleming
and Lucile.

Mr. Oatts was a member of
the Christian Church and an
excellent citizen and will be
greatly missed.

The funeral services were conducted
by Rev. A H. Baugh at the Frisbie
burying grounds Saturday evening.
