Rites Held Wednesday For Clara McKain

Clara Adelia McKain was born January 11, 1895, in Coulter, Colorado. She passed away October 1, 1961, in Saint Francis Hospital, Wichita, Kansas, where she had been undergoing treatment for the past five weeks.

She was the daughter of the late Edwin M. Throckmorton and Cornelia Esther (Colton) Throckmorton. She was united in marriage to Charles Joseph McCullough August 1, 1922. To this union two children were born: a daughter, Phyllis, and a son, Robert.

After the death of her husband, Charles, on April 20, 1928, Clara moved to Delphos, Kansas, where she has resided for the past 33 years.

On November 9, 1950, she was united in marriage to Jess McKain. He departed this life February 1, 1961.
Surviving are her children: Phyllis Arehart, Augusta, Kans.; Dr. Robert McCullough, Colorado Springs, Colo.; Louella Hollis of Wichita, Kans.; her sister, Esther McCullough, Denver, Colo.; and eleven grandchildren.
Clara was a member of the Methodist Church and the Rebekah Lodge.

She was a devoted and loving mother and grandmother whose greatest joy was helping those whom she loved.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, October 4, 1961, at 2:00 o'clock p.m. from the Delphos Methodist Church with the Rev. John Baker officiating. Pallbearers were Ray Colton, Fred Holbert, Herman Bates, Victor Colton, Lester Colton, and Bob McKain. Interment was in Bethel Cemetery with Dean Funeral Home of Glasco in charge of arrangements.
