Thelma Mullins Gardner, 71, of Macedonia, SC, died Thursday afternoon in a North Charleston hospital.

Her funeral was held on Sunday afternoon, July 31, 2011, at the graveside in the Oak Grove Pentecostal Holiness Church Cemetery, Macedonia.

Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to the Oak Grove Senior Citizens Department, 2346 N. Highway 17-A, Bonneau, SC 29431.

Mrs. Garner was born November 19, 1939, in Dutch Ridge, WVA, a daughter of Wilbur Mullins and Mahalia Jones Mullins. She was a member of the Oak Grove Pentecostal Holiness Church and enjoyed reading her Bible and listening to music. Mrs. Gardner loved baby-sitting children and did so for many years. She also formerly served as a board member and first responder for the Macedonia Rural Volunteer Fire Department. She was the widow of Dean Gardner.

Surviving are a daughter, Wanda G. Stone and her husband, Larry, of Bremerton, WA; four sisters, Frances "Sis" Bair of Beckley, WVA, Phyllis Minnix of Gulley Bridge, WVA, Jane Fields of Charleston, WVA, and Nina Knapp of Beaverton, OR; and a grandson, Caleb D. Stone.
