Mr. Alva Dairel Boykin, age 82, passed away Tuesday, June 30, 2009, at Lackey Memorial Hospital in Forest.
Visitation is 5-8 pm tonight at Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Forest. Funeral services are 11 am Friday, July 3, 2009, at the funeral home chapel with burial in Oak Grove Baptist Church Cemetery. Rev. Paul Earley will officiate.
Mr. Boykin was a native of Raleigh, MS and had been a resident of Forest for the past 18 years prior to having lived in Wiggins, MS. He was a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church and a member of the American Legion. Mr. Boykin was a veteran of World War II. He was a Gideon and a Mason. Mr. Boykin served as a Sunday school teacher for 50 years. He was preceded in death by his parents, Alva and Fannie Boykin.
Survivors include his wife, Mildred Boykin of Forest, MS; son, Roger Dairel Boykin of Lawrenceville, GA; two daughters, Delia Kaye Rankin of Warrenton, VA and Millicent Lavern Brister of Castle Rock, CO; one sister, Annie Lois Lyle of Pearl, MS; one brother, Charles Ray Boykin of Gulfport, MS; four grandchildren; and one great grandchild.
