Elizabeth was born in North Carolina to Dempsey Pope and his wife Obedience Thorn, descendants of pioneers of the original precinct of Edgecombe, North Carolina, before the additional counties were formed.
Elizabeth's father, Dempsey Pope, wrote his will shortly before his death in 1835 (North Carolina) and left all "property, plantation, and household goods" to his wife "Bedah" for her lifetime. Obedience died in 1835, as well, leaving the property and plantation to their children, William Pope, Elizbeth Pope Rose, Penelope Pope Fountain, and Mary Pope.

Elizabeth married Richard Michael Rose, Dec 17, 1822, Nash County, North Carolina.
Their Children: Eliza Richard, Michael William, Nancy Caroline, James Henry, Dempsey Richard, Mary Elizabeth, Nicholas Crawford, and Anthony B.

The family lived in Nash County, North Carolina in 1830. From 1840 through 1870 they lived in Robertson County, Tennessee. Elizabeth and Richard died there in 1877, one day apart.

Elizabeth Pope's maternal grandparents (parents of her mother, Obedience Thorn} were William Thorn and Mary Taylor. Their children were, other than Obedience, William, Winifred (married Wiley Robertson), Theophilus, Martin, Taylor, Mary (married Hardyman Pope Jr), and Elizabeth.
