He was born in Alsenborn in the Palatinate. He was the son of Andrew and Anna Margaretha Hess Schreiber. The family arrived in America in the fall of 1721. Andrew Jr., after serving an apprenticeship as a tanner and shoemaker, married Anna Maria Keyser (Kaiser). They came to Conewago, about a mile from Christ Church, in 1734 and were among the first settlers in this area. They had seven children: David, Veronica Kuntz, Catharina Kuntz, Anna Maria Kitzmiller, Elizabeth Will, Andrew and Jacob.
