Daughter of Johan Georg Ruetche and Hermengilde "Mena" Amann, Mary Johana Ritschy married Henry Werneth in Mobile, February 8, 1899. They had four children: Germaine (1899-1951), Adele Louise (1902-1973), Henry Jr (1905-1975), and Francis Xavier (1910-1973). Her husband Henry died suddenly in 1910 leaving her with four young children. She then married James Scally, a widower. They had no children. When Mary Werneth Scally died in 1941, she was buried next to her first husband Henry Werneth in the Catholic Cemetery in Mobile. Three of Mary and Henry's children who never married were buried in the family plot next to them. The Werneth name is engraved on the cemetery step leading to the plot: W 1181
