Alvis R. "Bus" Enochs Alvis Ray "Bus" Enochs was born in Edorado, Texas on January 9, 1914 to Jeff and Myrtle Enochs as the third of their eight children. He died July 22, 2010 in Eldorado, Texas at the age of 96 years, 6 months and 13 days. Young "Bus" was interested in horses, dogs, hunting and fishing and all things cowboy. Many of his best days were spent on hunting or fishing trips with friends. Bus served his country with distinction during WW II in the Pacific Theater while with the U.S. Army Infantry from 1942 until 1945. Bus endured over 120 days of continuous combat refusing to take R and R because, he said, " I just want to get this over with." He never talked about his war experiences. Bus came home as an E-6 to marry his sweetheart, Erelene Patton, on March 31, 1945. They made their home in Oak Hill, Texas. They were married for sixty-one years until her death in 2006. They were blessed with two children, Archie Ray Enochs and Linda Bess Enochs. The '50s drought steered Bus from cattle ranching to the water well and pump business which he operated with his son, Archie, for many successful years. Everyone was happy to see the man who could make the water run again. Bus bought two ranches in Schleicher County, Texas; one in the 1980s and the other in 1995. Bus loved his new ranch where he and Erelene moved. They enjoyed their ranch home and all who came to visit. He never stopped asking, "Are they predicting any rain?" Bus is survived by his brother Tom Enochs, son Archie Ray Enochs and friend Kathy Hardin, daughter Linda Enochs, Grandson Brett Enochs and wife Melissa, Granddaughter Erin Broberg and husband Eric and Great Grandson Patton Enochs and numerous nieces and nephews. The family expresses their gratitude to the Schleicher County Nursing Home for the professional care and to special caregiver Rosemary Factor. Funeral services are under the direction of Kerbow Funeral Home of Eldorado, Texas and Harrell funeral Home of Austin, Texas. Graveside services will be held at the Oak Hill cemetery in Oak Hill,Texas at 2:00 p.m. Sunday July 25, 2010.
