He was the son of Andrew Hallett and his wife Mary Reeves. He arrived with his parents in Massachusetts in 1635. He was a Shoemaker living in Plymouth and Barnstable. He married Elizabeth Gorham at Barnstable March 5, 1666.
Joseph and Elizabeth had the following children:
1. Mary Hallett, who married Jabez Fuller
2. Lois Hallett, who married Henry Cobb Jr.
Elizabeth Hallett, who married James Cobb is believed by some to be a daughter of Joseph and Elizabeth (Gorham) Hallett. However, this has not been proved. Although it's possible proof may be found in the future, currently the Mayflower Society does not accept Elizabeth as a daughter of Joseph and Elizabeth (Gorham) Hallett.
