Fred Atkinson, Pioneer, Passes
Stricken with a heart attack yesterday while walking in the central business district, Fred. J. Atkinson, 81 years old, was taken to Harborview Hospital, where he died at 5 o’clock last evening.
Funeral services for Mr. Atkinson well be held at 3 o’clock Friday at the Home Undertaking Company. Burial will be in Washelli Cemetery.
Mr. Atkinson a retired sawyer and shingle weaver came to Seattle from Michigan just before the fire of 1889, and had resided here since. He lived at 23051/2 First Ave. He was born in Canada, but moved to the United States at an early age, settling in Michigan.
Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Bessie Kilworth, Seattle: a son, Herbert Atkinson, Boston; a brother, William Atkinson, Seattle, and a sister, Mrs. Caroline Smith, Pasadena, Calif. His wife, Lottie, died here about fifteen years ago.
