Dr. Edward V Swift, 98, of Palestine, Texas passed away on June 26, 2009. Dr. Swift was born Sept. 1, 1910 in Palestine to Judge Edward V. and Rena Swift. He grew up in Palestine, graduated from Palestine High School, earned a bachelor's in premedicine at Texas A and M University. He went on to get his MD at the University of Texas Medical School at Galveston. He completed a fellowship at the Mayo clinic in Internal Medicine, where he also met and married his wife Angelina Peck. Dr. Swift was a veteran of the United States Army serving as a physician in World War II. He went on to practice internal medicine in Big Spring, Texas where he also raised his family. In the early 1960s he moved his family to Marble Falls, Texas and opened a practice in Burnet, Texas until he retired. Dr. Swift is survived by a son, Charley Swift of Johnson City, Texas; a daughter, Gina Swift Harvey and her husband Jack Harvey of Fort Collins, Colo.; and a sister, Elizabeth Brown of Dallas, Texas. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ann Peck Swift; brother, Leroy Swift; sister, Ruth McCoy; and brother, Ernest Swift. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, July 2, 2009 at the First Christian Church in Palestine. Arrangements are under the direction of Bailey and Foster Funeral Home, Palestine.
